The successful engineer will be responsible for participating in the specification, design, development, documentation of RF circuits to drive Synrad laser products from concept through to production.   If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a smart team, and the very latest technology, then this is the job for you!

·         Work closely with senior engineers in the development of high power, 100 watt to 1000 watt, RF sources in the VHF frequency range for new laser products, support existing designs, analysis and resolution of manufacturing and customer issues.
·         Design and development experiments and prototypes of RF circuits, laser gas discharge loads and other equipment and facilities.
·         Perform all phases of RF hardware development including system architecture, design, component selection, schematic capture, PCB design, BOM creation, test and debug.
·         Perform RF measurements and characterization of modules, circuits, and components.
·         Create detailed test plans both at the module and system level.
·         Conduct experiments and computer simulations.
·         Collect accurate and conclusive test data and maintain detailed documentation.
·         Develop positive relationships with other engineering disciplines and other company functions, such as PCB, hardware, mechanical, firmware, software, system test, production test and mechanical engineers involved in the design process.
·         Demonstrate ability to work well within a cross-functional team and mentor others.
·         Adhere to aggressive deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:
·         BSEE or Physics (MSEE or advanced degree preferred)
·         2+ years of related experience with high power (>100 watt) RF design
·         Experience in the area of EMI design and compliance testing is a definite plus.
·         Experience working with RF gas discharge plasma loads is a definite plus.
  • Must be experienced with RF design software.
  • Experience with schematic capture software.
  • Proficient in the use of RF lab test equipment such as a Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, RF Signal Generator, Power Meter, and Oscilloscope.
  • Appreciation for DFx (design for cost, test, manufacturing).
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
  • Communicates effectively on a technical level.
  • While we emphasis the ability to work in a team, the candidate must also be effective as a single contributor as the situation warrants.
