Globys 2013 internship opportunities

The Data Science Team at Seattle-based Globys Inc. is looking for motivated, energetic interns in machine learning to help shape our new flagship product for influencing the behavior of millions of mobile phone users in real time. (See below for Wall street Journal article about data science at Globys). We have an opening for the Globys Graduate Research Fellowship, which will pay one year of tuition and stipend at the graduate student's academic institution. We also have summer internships available to talented graduate and undergraduate students. All positions pay very competitive stipends.

Successful team members will be passionate about the mobile customer space and will have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following:
  • Cutting-edge machine learning algorithms applied to social network analysis, unsupervised and supervised classification, dynamical graphical models, feature selection, and statistical signal processing.
  • High-performance Python programming with large data sets.
  • Conducting rigorous computer-based experiments to test hypotheses and discover new insights about mobile phone users.
  • Visualizing,  documenting and presenting the results at varying levels of granularity for both technical and less-technical audiences.
We welcome both theory-oriented and software-oriented applicants. You will have the opportunity to let your stuff shine and be mentored in the discipline of machine learning in the grown-up world of big data.

About Data Science at Globys:
You will work with senior-level machine learning scientists who combine advanced science with delivering business capabilities at large scale. Our scientists have worked at Bell Labs, Microsoft Research, the UW-Applied Physics Lab, and well-known area startup companies like INRIX; and come from diverse fields such as automatic music identification, underwater acoustics, computational finance, quantum computing, machine vision, and computational drug discovery. We draw from these experiences and apply cutting-edge technologies from pattern recognition, behavioral clustering, social network analysis, and statistical signal processing at big data-scale to transform the way wireless companies interact with their customers.
