Tethers Unlimited, Inc. is seeking to fill several openings for space technology engineers. Tethers Unlimited is an aerospace and defense R&D firm located in Bothell, WA. We are currently developing a number of advanced technologies for space and defense systems, including propulsion, power, deployable structures, on‐orbit manufacturing, and RF communications and sensing. Tethers Unlimited typically takes on projects that are out-of-the-box and extremely technically challenging, so to work here you must be creative, very hard working, and committed to producing the highest quality work. You also must be able to work efficiently both independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Due to ITAR Laws, US Citizenship or permanent residency is required for these positions.
In particular, we are looking for engineers with experience in one or more of the following:
• Space mechanism design, prototyping, and testing.
• Aerospace composites design, fabrication, and testing.
• Additive manufacturing technologies and materials science.
• Design, construction, and testing of power and propulsion systems at scales relevant to small spacecraft. In particular, experience with fuel cell hardware is desired.
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Matlab, IDL, or RepRap software are desired. Simulation and analysis experience is a plus, but for these positions, aptitude for hands-on work with hardware is a must. For full-time positions, B.S. with 1+ years work experience or M.S. in ME, EE, Materials, Aerospace, or Physics. For Co-Op employment, in-progress advanced degree preferred, but truly exceptional 4th year undergraduates will be considered.
